I sketched this in a little artist cafe in San Francisco. I realized my interest in depicting glass – it is like looking through a portal into another dimension.
I wondered if the style of this cafe was inspired by Scandinavia or Japan. It turned out to just be what the owner preferred. But it made me realize the similarities between Scandinavian and Japanese design – nature-inspired, minimalistic, and airy. I wonder if there are the same cultural similarities exist between Scandinavia and Japan.
